Suite for piano left hand, two violins and cello Erich Korngold [1887 - 1957]
Quintet for piano and strings, op. 18 Mieczyslaw Weinberg
A programme devoted to two very different exiles: Mieczyslaw Weinberg, who fled his native Warsaw to the Soviet Union, and Erich Korngold who left Vienna for Hollywood and a career as one of film’s most significant composers. His Suite for piano left hand and strings was commissioned by Paul Wittgenstein, another Viennese exile.
